Q. How do I anchor my pergola?

A. We provide steel anchors and hardware for all of our shade structures. Please consult our Learning Center for more anchoring information.

Q. Do you charge sales tax?

A. For most states we do not charge sales tax. If you have a question with respect to your state please contact us.

Q: What is the warranty on the pergolas?

A: Warranties are as follows:

  • Western Red Cedar and Vinyl Pergolas & Pavilions - 10 year warranty
  • Structural Fiberglass models - Lifetime Warranty

Q: Do you manufacture custom-sized pergolas?

A: Yes! Pergola Kits USA creates completely custom-designed pergolas and delivers them to you in a ready-to-assemble kit. We customize every facet of our structures, including length, width, height, shape, design, color, cathedral beams, and custom angles.  These are just some of the many features you can include in a custom-built pergola.

Q: Do your vinyl models have beam and rafter inserts?

A: Yes. Vinyl is not a structural material; it merely is a sleeve that surrounds wood timbers. When you buy a vinyl structure from us, we include all necessary wood timbers. We use pressure treated lumber SYP #1. If you desire extruded aluminum inserts for the beams and rafters we would be happy to quote you.

Q: Are your products made in America?

A: Yes. All of our products are 100% made in America from materials sourced 100% in America. All of our wood and vinyl structures are fabricated in our shop in Pennsylvania, and all of our fiberglass components are fabricated in our shop in Alabama.

Q: What percentage of shade does a pergola provide?

A: Solid roof patio covers (or pavilions) provide 100% shade. Pergolas provide varying levels of shade depending on the number and type of top slats you order. This percentage can range from 10% - 90% depending on your design and the time of day. If you order a retractable canopy with your pergola, you can achieve 100% shade with our Sunbrella fabric canopies (waterproof too).

Q: Do you provide assembly services?

A: We offer assembly services in New England, Mid-Atlantic, East Coast and Midwestern States. Prices posted on our website do not include assembly, but we would be happy to quote you.

Q: How long does it take to assemble an average size pergola?

A: Our smaller pergola kits may be assembled by the average homeowner. Smaller pergola kits (e.g. 10x10, 12x10, etc.) can be assembled in as quick as four hours by a tradesman. Medium and larger size pavilion kits (e.g. 14x16, 20x24) typically require a skill set beyond that of the average homeowner, and may take two or more days to assemble. If your structure requires footings to be poured, that adds to the total assembly time.

Q: How many people should assist with assembly?

A: For most kits, we recommend two able-bodied individuals for unloading and assembly. Larger kits benefit from additional people.

Q: How do you ship your pergola kits?

A: Your pergola will arrive at your location in a large crate via one of our shop trucks or via independent motor freight courier (i.e. tractor trailer). Please see this page for more info.

Q: Where do you ship your pergolas?

A: We ship our pergolas to the contiguous 48 states and Canada. Deliveries to all but a few Western States and Canada are free of charge.

Q: How is the package delivered and unloaded from the delivery truck?

A: Please see the section titled ‘Delivery Process’ on this page: https://www.pergolakitsusa.com/shipping-returns/

Q: How many different pergola colors are available?

A: We offer six different stains for our wood kits. Our vinyl kits are available in white, almond, clay and black. Our structural fiberglass kits are available in any color you desire (any Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams color code).

Q: Can I attach my pergola to an existing building or house?

A: Yes. Many customers buy ‘attached’ or 'wall-mounted' models. You attach your pergola to your home with a ‘ledger board’, which is a length of 2” x 6” or 2” x 8” pressure treated or red cedar wood. We provide the necessary hardware to fasten the rafters to the ledger board.

Q: Is a building permit required?

A: Local permitting for pergolas and patio covers varies from one municipality to the other. Customers should check with their local municipality for any necessary permits.

Q: Do you offer discounts?

A: We offer military discounts, and discounts to the trade on many structures. Please check our website or call us toll free at (800) 403-9259 for current available discounts.
